The Geneva Graduate Institute was honoured to host a two-half-day course on 24-25 November on the International Framework on the Human Rights of Women, designed for diplomats in Geneva with the support of the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands and the Permanent Mission of Canada to the UN.

This course was delivered in English and French and was intended for diplomats taking part in the works of the Human Rights Council to enhance their knowledge of women’s human rights and gender issues. The programme was free of charge, and two delegates maximum per mission were invited to participate in the course.

This year all the participants had the opportunity to participate in a Networking lunch organised within the Institute on Friday, 25 November 2022.

“It was a pleasure to organise this important course and to meet the participating diplomates. No country in this world has achieved substantive gender equality. This is why this course aimed to study international instruments that can be used to foster women’s rights globally and locally. The diversity of speakers and rich experience of the participants allowed us to learn from each other and to bring together knowledge that can help to bring about a world without gender inequalities.” declared Lena Holzer, Programme Director.

“We were pleased to have supported the 8th iteration of this important course on the international framework on the human rights of women for Geneva-based diplomats. Women’s rights are human rights, and this course is a great opportunity to learn more about the various legal documents and how women’s rights and the empowerment of women and girls are mainstreamed in the SDGs and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda.” said Krystyna Wojnarowicz, Permanent Mission of Canada.
