Meet Dr Barbara Dubach, Managing Director and Founder of Engageability and Executive Director of Innovate 4 Nature, who will be one of our distinguished guest speakers for the new Executive Certificate in Nature-Positive Economy, starting on 24 June 2024.
Could you tell us more about your professional experience?
For over 25 years, I have been a passionate advocate for sustainability. With a background in environmental economics, I have dedicated my career to bridging the gap between business and sustainability. As the CEO and founder of engageability, a leading centre of excellence for sustainability and stakeholder engagement, I have championed the integration of sustainable practices into various industries. I am also the Executive Director of Innovate 4 Nature, a pioneering accelerator for nature-positive solutions.
What do you like about passing on your knowledge?
Knowledge sharing is fundamental to accelerating the adoption of nature-based solutions (NbS). It is immensely gratifying to see others embrace the potential of nature to create a more sustainable and resilient future. Sharing my expertise and insights not only empowers individuals and organisations but also fosters a community of like-minded changemakers who are committed to driving positive environmental and social impact.
How can your session help the participants in their learning journey?
My session will directly enhance participants’ understanding of nature-based solutions (NbS) and their potential to transform business models. Through real-world case studies, practical tools, and a deep dive into the science behind NbS, participants will be equipped to identify, assess, and implement effective NbS strategies for a more sustainable future.
In your opinion, what are the key challenges to drive impactful social and economic transformation for sustainable prosperity?
To drive impactful social and economic transformation for sustainable prosperity, we have to:
- demonstrate the business case of sustainability
- highlight the dependency of business on nature
- illustrate how nature loss is disruptive for business and how protecting and restoring nature can create opportunities
