We are pleased to introduce Clélia Bringolf, Advocacy Manager at Fondation Apprentis d’Auteuil International (FAAI), one of our guest speakers at the upcoming edition of the Advocacy and International Public Affairs Executive Programme starting on 26 March 2024.
Could you please introduce yourself and tell us more about your professional experience?
Greetings! I’m Clélia Bringolf, the Advocacy Manager at Fondation Apprentis d’Auteuil International (FAAI). Joining FAAI in 2020, my role is dedicated to supporting our local partners in the field. Together, we engage in advocacy actions on national and international fronts, utilising UN human rights mechanisms to defend the rights of the most vulnerable children across the globe.
Prior to my role at FAAI, I served as a consultant in Mexico City for the NGO Article 19. My work focused on research projects delving into the transparency and efficiency of international and regional human rights institutions.
I hold a master’s degree in political science from the University of Geneva, specialising in comparative politics and international relations.
How can your session help the participants in their learning journey?
In my session, we will delve into case studies of international advocacy actions of the NGO Fondation Apprentis d’Auteuil International in support of the rights of street-connected children. We will focus on two crucial aspects: how to engage with a UN’s human rights mechanism and how to build an effective advocacy campaign.
What does Advocacy mean to you?
Advocacy is one word to describe a wide range of actions and means to create impact at the political level and bring about change.
What do you like about passing on your knowledge?
When I run a training course on advocacy in the field, I love to see the sparkle in people’s eyes when they look ahead and think about their next step after the course. Sharing experience and knowledge empowers people to act, claim their rights or change a narrative.
What advice would you recommend to participants looking to join your field of work?
Always look to the long term, stay positive and find allies.
What is your bedside book?
Half of a Yellow Sun, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
